The Coldest Game Ever Played
After a week like this one, it felt like a good time to look back at one of the best days in Packers history. On December 31, 1967, Green Bay hosted the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field for the NFL Championship. It was around 13 degrees below zero at kickoff, and the wind chill made it feel even worse than that. The field turned into a sheet of ice, the officials’ whistles froze, and fans packed into the stands anyway. That game has been called the Ice Bowl ever since.

Starr’s Sneak
The Packers were down 17-14 with under five minutes left and started the final drive at their own 32. Bart Starr marched them all the way down to the 1 yard line, and with 16 seconds left and no timeouts, everybody in the building expected a pass or a field goal. Instead Starr kept it himself on a quarterback sneak, following a block from Jerry Kramer, and fell into the end zone to win it 21-17. Two weeks later the Packers beat the Raiders in Super Bowl II. It’s the perfect reminder that this franchise has come back from worse than a 1-2 start.
